georgia tech autonomous helicopter flips to land on steep slopes


robot helicopters and aeroplanes capable of perching on steep surfaces are being developed seperately by researchers at mit and georgia tech. such a drone aircraft could land on moving vehicles, unsteady ships or even hide inside caves.
mit's rc planes can take off and land vertically. georgia tech's helicopter can land on slopes of up to sixty degrees, by flipping backwards into freefall as it lands.
